Flash floods in Himachal Pradesh are not just a risk; they are a sudden, life-threatening reality. Triggered by cloudbursts or glacial events (GLOFs) miles upstream, a calm river can become a raging torrent in under 15 minutes.

This narrow window leaves no time for traditional warnings. You need information that travels faster than the flood itself. **This project provides that speed.**

We built an AI that acts as a 24/7 digital lookout. Watch how it detects a flood and instantly sends a bilingual alert to the district Telegram channel, giving users critical time to react.

How Our AI "Sees" Danger

This isn't just a simple sensor. Our system uses a hybrid model, combining multiple AI techniques for high accuracy and to prevent false alarms.

River Segmentation (YOLOv8)

First, the AI finds the river. It draws a precise "mask" around the water to ignore distracting motion from trees, cars, or clouds.

Flow Analysis (Optical Flow)

It compares frames to track the movement of particles, calculating the water's speed to detect dangerous surges in real-time.

Turbidity Analysis (CNN)

A powerful classifier analyzes the water's texture and color. A sudden change to muddy, debris-filled water is a key sign of an upstream event.
